CRIME STOPPERS and DURHAM REGIONAL POLICE are asking for the public’s help to solve an arson that occurred in the Clarington area.

On Friday the 1st of January 2010, Durham Regional Police attended the address of 40 Quackenbush Street in the area of Leberty and King Street in Bowmanville in regards to a house fire.

Upon arrival, Clarington Fire and Emergency Services had extinguished a house fire in a home that was under construction.
The house had sustained a considerable amount of damage
The fire appears to have originated in the rear of the structure with some type of accelerate used to start the blaze.

 


The total damage was approx. $20,000.00

CRIME STOPPERS and DURHAM REGIONAL POLICE are asking for the public’s help to solve a break and enter that occurred in the Uxbridge area.




Sometime between the 4th and 19th of September 2009, a number of break and enters were reported to Durham Regional Police. Suspects had entered the property of Goodwood Kartways, located at 5200 Concession Road 2, in the Township of Uxbridge, and stole 10 go-karts, racing suits, generators and related parts and equipment valued at $100,000.

 

The go-karts are the Italian Concept Intrepid brand and are easily identifiable by their distinct orange, black, and red design, and by their side profile “Intrepid” decals.

Three go-karts have been recovered by police. One was located in York Region, in the Stouffville area and the second was found on Wagg Road in the Township of Uxbridge. A third was located in a residence in Pickering.

A suspect vehicle involved in the break and enters is described as a silver/white Dodge Dakota pick-up truck.

CRIME STOPPERS and DURHAM REGIONAL POLICE are asking for the public’s help to solve a suspicious fire that occurred in the Orono area.


On Thursday the 6th of August 2009, at approximately 2:30 AM, police from 16 Division in Clarington were called to a residence on Princess Street in Orono regarding a house fire.

Clarington Fire Services extinguished the blaze, but there was significant damage to the home.

Further investigation by the Ontario Fire Marshall’s Office and investigators from 16 Division Criminal Investigation Branch indicates the cause of the fire is suspicious.






CRIME STOPPERS and DURHAM REGIONAL POLICE are asking for the public’s help to solve a street level robbery that occurred in the Ajax area.

On Wednesday, the 20th of May 2009, at approximately 7:45 PM, two victims were walking together to a friend’s home and traveling through a pedestrian pathway off of Caldicott Court. As they were traveling through the pathway, they were accosted by two male suspects, one of whom was armed with a knife.

Both victims were punched repeatedly in the head and face and forced to kneel and hand-over their property.

 Neither victim was seriously injured and they did not require medical attention.

Both suspects fled on foot in an unknown direction.

Suspect #1 is described as: male, white, 16-18 years, 5’9” with a medium build. He had brown hair and green eyes. He was wearing a white bandana printed with a green marijuana plant symbol.

Suspect #2 is described as: male, white, 16-18 years, 6’0 in height and he had a medium build as well. He was wearing black sunglasses and a red bandana over his mouth and nose.






CRIME STOPPERS and DURHAM REGIONAL POLICE are asking for the public’s help to solve a robbery that occurred in the Whitby area.


On Saturday, the 23rd of May 2009, at approximately 2:15AM, police from 18 Division in Whitby were dispatched to attend the scene of a robbery in the vicinity of Irwin Drive.
The victim, a driver for a pizza company, had arrived to make a delivery and was approached by a suspect who indicated the delivery was intended for him. The suspect stated he needed to go and get cash, then he disappeared between two houses. Upon the suspect’s return, he kneed the driver in the groin and removed his wallet, identification and a quantity of cash and fled on foot.

The area was searched by police with negative results.

The suspect is described as: male, white, possibly of middle-eastern descent. It is believed he was in his early 30’s and was approx. 5’ 7” in height. He was wearing a blue jacket with white writing on the chest and blue track pants.






CRIME STOPPERS and DURHAM REGIONAL POLICE are asking for the public’s help to solve a series of thefts that have occurred in the northern part of Durham Region.

Over the last three months, large quantities of diesel fuel have gone missing from storage tanks at companies located in the north end of Durham. One of the incidents involves the theft of over 20,000 litres of fuel and on two separate occurrences, 10,000 litres of diesel fuel was stolen from two different sites.

In total, well over 50,000 litres has been stolen.


If you have seen anything suspicious in or around businesses that would keep large quantities of fuel, like construction companies or trucking firms, or have information that can assist the police in these thefts,

CRIME STOPPERS and DURHAM REGIONAL POLICE are asking for the public’s help to solve a break and enter that occurred in the Whitby area.


On Friday the 17th of July 2009, Police from 18 Division in Whitby attended a residence in the Thickson and Taunton Road area, for a report of a break and enter.

Upon arrival police learned that sometime between Thursday the 16th and Friday the 17th of July, unknown culprit(s) had entered the home. Entry was gained by forcing upon the front door.

Once inside, the culprit(s) made their way to the master bedroom where a quantity of jewellery was stolen.

 No other items appear to have been removed from the home.

CRIME STOPPERS and DURHAM REGIONAL POLICE are asking for the public’s help to solve a robbery that occurred in the Ajax area.


On Sunday the 15th of March 2009, just after 4:00 AM, three males entered Sam’s Foot Mart, located at 26 Hunt Street. One of the males was armed with a knife and demanded cash and cigarettes from the clerk. After receiving a quantity of Canadian currency and the cigarettes the males fled the scene.

Police believe four suspects were involved as one male remained outside the store as a look-out.

Suspect #1 is described as: male, black, 14-16 years of age with a                thin build. He was wearing a black hooded jacket, blue jeans, baseball cap and a red bandana

           Suspect #2 described as: male, white, 14-16 years of age. He was wearing a black hoodie and black pants.

              Suspect #3 described as: male, white, black hoodie, blue jeans and a black balaclava.

Suspect #4 described as: male 14-16 years of age. He was wearing gloves and a ball cap.






CRIME STOPPERS and DURHAM REGIONAL POLICE are asking for the public’s help to solve a series of thefts in the Durham area.


Over the last year, there has been a string of thefts from Bell Canada pay phones. The thefts involve the prying open of the area that holds the coins.

  In 2009 alone, there have been 34 reports in the Durham area. The thefts have been occurring right across the Region, from Clarington to Pickering and north to the Uxbridge area.  


Suspect: male, white, believed to be 20 to 25 years of age. He weights about 160 pounds and is approx 5”10 in height.  He wears construction boots and has on a jacket to conceal the tools he uses to break into the pay phones.

This same suspect is believed responsible for similar incidents throughout the Province of Ontario

CRIME STOPPERS and DURHAM REGIONAL POLICE are asking for the public’s help to solve a theft that occurred in the Clarington area.

On Friday, the 17th of April 2009, at approx 10:30AM, a camera operator for a television station was at Holiday World RV Centre,
located at 4131 Highway 115.

The camera operator placed his camera and tripod in a back office and went outside to look at a couple of trailers. When he returned a short time later, the camera was gone.

The camera is a Sony Betacam Sx and has a replacement value of $50,000.00
